Process Servers Turn to Cloud Computing

cloud computingPaper: not only is it messy as it congregates around the office, but it also takes up a lot of space and can easily get lost or find its way into the wrong hands. In process serving, your documents are highly sensitive, and all information, including your client contacts and communications, must be kept under lock and key. Paper is also susceptible to fire and flood and a host of other disasters, so why do we hang on to it? This is the story of one process server and how his move to the Cloud saved his business and his sanity.

Paul’s Story

As a new process server, Paul created and kept paper files for every client. A little bit OCD, he had a file for everything and was soon overrun with filing cabinets. Paul thought digitizing all his work would be an excellent idea and he was right, until his Internet provider went down and he had no access to any e-mails for an entire day, leaving his clients in the cold. At this point, he decided moving everything to the Cloud was the solution, and Google Business was the winner.

Moving his business to the Cloud offered Paul the ability to access and respond to e-mails from his computer, phone, or anywhere, minimizing the time clients had to wait. He synched his server to his Google Drive account and created a second backup, ensuring no data would be lost in case of disaster. All attempts and Affidavits, items that are hand-written, were scanned to .PDF and also added to the Cloud for quick access (ServeManager is an excellent program for doing this!).

Business Made Easy

Since moving to the Cloud, Paul’s process serving business has boomed. This is due in large part to the better quality of service he is able to offer clients now that he can essentially operate his business from anywhere. If his office e-mail is down, he simply checks it from his phone or tablet. He can access every file, a copy of any Affidavit, and a list of every attempt from any machine. He even invoices and keeps his bookkeeping on the cloud.

If you are a process server with a large number of documents and a busy schedule, we strongly recommend working through the Cloud, or at least giving yourself the option. Clients will receive better service, you will be much more organized, and you will always have backups in case of Internet outage or a disaster at your office.
